I am so very excited to introduce something that’s been on my heart for a long time!! Such a big part of my business is inspiring others to do what sets their hearts on fire. I’m a strong believer that your business should be an avenue to incite change, challenge the status quo, and act as a vehicle to love others incredibly well. My hope is that through this new blog series, “All Up In Yo Business,” I’ll be able to inspire creative business owners to do just that, and build businesses with lots of smarts and even more heart!
Being a business owner sometimes feels like a never-ending battle between the heart and the mind. You may even feel like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in that your creative juices are often in conflict with your need for order and organization. There are so many things you have to consider when you open and continue to run a business. You may find yourself in a sea of questions like “How will I handle finances,” “What should my brand look like,” “How many followers should I have on Instagram before I’m considered ‘successful,'” “How do I want my clients to feel at the end of my time with them,” or the dreaded, “Where do I even start?” Our minds start worrying and spiraling into the abyss of uncertainty, making us question our gifts, why we opened our business in the first place and our hearts for what we do. I, for one, will never tell you not to be organized and develop a system for your business. Trust me, I have post it notes, to remind me of other post it notes, and the thought of color coding emails and paperwork is extremely gratifying to me. But it’s always important to remember that before all the systems, scheduling, planning, and hard work were created, your heart for what you do came first. Your heart is your “why,” the thing that gets you up in the morning, your special gifts, what fires you up, and everything in between that makes you uniquely you! Your heart fuels the passion, creativity, joy, drive, and purpose behind your creative empire. My mom used to always say, “Do everything you do out of a place of love. Every decision you make starts with the heart.”
My mom used to always say, “Do everything you do out of a place of love. Every decision you make starts with the heart.” I live by this wisdom, and now I pass it on to you. Every decision in your creative business should begin with the heart. When we use our hearts in our businesses, our brand is portrayed much clearer, our social media and blog posts are more genuine, we love and serve our clients and fellow creatives so much better, and the path to our success is not defined by how the world sees us, but as individuals who are fearfully and wonderfully made, and destined to do great things in this world. When we choose to share our hearts through our lives and our businesses, our gifts shine brighter, and we inspire so many others to do the same.
I’m so excited to start this journey with you, and I can’t wait to fuel your creative fire, and inspire your businesses! That being said, if you have something that’s on your heart that you have some questions about, feel free to leave that in the comments or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I’ll make sure to make a blog post about that subject as soon as possible! Thanks so much for stopping by, and going on this journey with me. I’m so grateful you’re here! <3
