As most of you guys may already know, Valentine’s Day is coming up real soon. If you’re like me, you have probably waited until the last minute to do something special for your significant other. No fear my friends, I got you! If you don’t know what to do, this Valentine’s Day guide has 5 gift ideas that are guaranteed to get you those well-deserved brownie points. First of all, the biggest thing to remember is that money is not the key to a successful Valentine’s Day. You could have a fantastic day without spending a dime if you really want to put in the effort., and your significant other will certainly appreciate you for it. Since time is running out lets get going!
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea Numero Uno: Home Made Candle Light Dinner
Now this one is a tried and true method that will most certainly get your significant other swooning over you. For this one you are going to need to channel your inner Gordon Ramsey and get your cook on! Don’t worry, if you can’t cook that well, I got you! Go to YouTube and watch one of his videos if you need some help. For real man, cooking isn’t that hard. I’m an engineer and I can figure my way around a stove, so if I can do it, you can too! For extra brownie points, if you know what their favorite meal is cook that up with some love! There is no better way to someone’s heart that through their stomach. Now that the food is out of the way, on to the environment. Make sure your place is spotless. Put some elbow grease into it! It will be well appreciated. Fellas make absolutely sure that that bathroom is clean enough to eat off of, and get that good toilet paper too for the extra brownie points. Finally make sure you break out the good plates and cutlery for this, tonight is not the night for red solos and paper plates. Go and pick up a set from Target for $19.99 if you need to. Go to the dollar tree and get some candles, or Yankee candle if you’re ballin’ out like that. Set the mood and the night is yours!
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea Numero Dos: Make Them Something Special From the Heart
Remember folks, store bought isn’t always the best way to go. Something from the heart that you made yourself will generally be very appreciated by your special lady. Now for this one, I can’t tell you exactly what to do because it’s dependent on your own personal skills. If you can draw, make them a portrait or draw them their favorite character from a book they like or a tv show. If you are musically talented, write them a song. If you’re a tech savvy like myself, make them a cool website to show your love or maybe even a Super Mario-like game. Use your talents to make your significant other say “Ooooooooo this is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeeee. Bae I love ittttttttt”. The possibilities are endless on this one, and most of the time, it will cost you little to nothing.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea Idea Numero Tres: Scavenger Hunt
Now this one will take a bit of time an effort but if you do it correctly, man you will be in there like swimwear. For this one you may want to limit the scope of your scavenger hunt to a particular area so that you and your sweetie aren’t spending most of your time driving rather than having fun (also gas isn’t free so keep it close). Set up little notes for your boo to find, but don’t hide it too hard. You have to actually have them find it, remember?! Now if you got them outside, it gives you a little time to set up inside for some romance. Get some rose petals and lead them to a dinner table or maybe the bedroom if that’s how you want to do. Get some chocolate covered strawberries from the store and some sparkling cider and/or champagne if you want to splurge a little. By the time they return you’ll be waiting to romance them off their feet and they will certainly be happy to see you.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea Numero Quatro: Game time
Now this is for those looking to have some fun! Break out some of those fun games and have a blast. See if you got that good vocabulary in a game of Scrabble or see whose got the steadiest hands in a game of Operation. If you’re a serious video gamer like me, hand your significant other a controller and see if they can hang in a game of Call of Duty or (Insert sports game here that you spend $60 dollars on even though it’s the same game every year). The key to this one is to have fun…and you might just be surprised that she crushes your favorite game as much as you do!
Idea Numero Cinco: Good Conversation
Now if you can do this well, man you are going to be winnin’! Sit down on the couch, snuggle up, grab some dranks, you know the good kind..and start talking. Bring up something you know your significant other loves and make them feel as though it is the most interesting thing in the world. Be an active listener. Make sure the phone is on silent and the TV is off. Give them 100% of your attention and stay engaged. They will feel as though they are the center of your universe. When it’s good it can go on for hours, and who knows where the conversation make take you.
Whatever you decide to do, just remember the day isn’t about fancy gifts and super expensive dinners. The day is about you and your boo spending quality time together. If you can’t do anything else, make sure to give them your time. Nothing is more precious than just being next to your bae and spending that good old fashioned quality time. Hope I could help all you procrastinators out there. Good Luck!
